Director Nandita Das on her new film Manto

One of South Asia’s greatest writers of the 20th Century, Saadat Hasan Manto, is the subject of a new film called Manto.

It provides a four year window into his life during the tumultuous partitioning of British colonial India into two new nations - India and Pakistan.

The film, which has been directed by the Indian actress Nandita Das, recently had its world premiere.
