Cancer patient: 'Since Avastin, my life has changed'

Bowel cancer charities have criticised draft guidance not to back a drug for terminally-ill NHS patients in England and Wales.

The healthcare watchdog NICE says Avastin is not cost effective as it costs about £20,000 a year, but only extends patients' lives by a few weeks.

Charities say it has added months to lives elsewhere in Europe.

Eugene Sexton has been taking the drug to treat his bowel cancer since 2009 and believes it has dramatically improved his standard of living.
