Thousands are 'at risk of alcohol death' say doctors

An additional quarter of a million people could die from alcohol abuse over the next twenty years unless tougher restrictions on alcohol are introduced.

Writing in the Lancet, a group of doctors has warned that the government's attempts to tackle binge drinking in England and Wales has been "inconsequential" and they've accuse ministers of being "too close" to the drinks industry.

The government says it's taking tough action to tackle "problem drinking".
