Hip fracture care is substandard, says NHS watchdog

Many patients with hip fractures face a higher risk of long-term disability and even death because they receive substandard treatment, the NHS watchdog has said.

At the moment half of UK hospitals do not offer surgery for the injury for at least 36 hours, but NICE has recommended that all patients in England and Wales should be treated within a day of arriving in hospital.
