Thousand die every year waiting for an organ donation

Every day three people die waiting for an organ transplant and there are more than 10,000 people on the waiting list.

There is still a real shortage of donors and Wales hopes to change this by laying out proposals for presumed organ donation consent, meaning people would have to opt out to avoid being considered.

Radio 5 live's Shelagh Fogarty spoke to Alex who had been waiting for a kidney and liver transplant for over three years when his life was saved.
