Cameron wants companies to have access to some NHS records

The Science Minister David Willetts has said he wants to see closer collaboration between the NHS and private medical companies, to help speed up the availability of new treatments.

The government is proposing that companies should have access to NHS patient records in England in order to boost the competitiveness of British innovation and research.

Critics are concerned about patient privacy, but the government says the records will remain anonymous.
