England long-term social care system 'deeply flawed'

More than sixty organisations which help elderly and disabled people say the present system of long-term social care in England is deeply flawed and must be put right.

In a letter to The Daily Telegraph, charities and care providers claim that eight hundred thousand people are lonely, isolated and at risk.

Downing Street says it regards the needs of older and disabled people as an urgent priority.
