Alzheimer's Society welcomes extra dementia funding

The government is due to double the funding for research into dementia by 2015 to £66m.

In a speech on Monday, Prime Minister David Cameron is expected to say the level of diagnosis, understanding and awareness of dementia is "shockingly low."

Jill Quinn of the Alzheimer's Society has said the extra funding for dementia is ''exactly what we need''.
