Radical technique to improve the quality of donor lungs

Patients needing a lung transplant could benefit from a radical new technique to improve the quality of donor organs.

Currently, only one in five donated lungs is good enough to be transplanted - and many patients die while on the waiting list.

Now transplant centres across the UK are trying out a technique to "re-condition" donor lungs.
