Stafford hospital: NHS Confederation chief 'feels shame'

The public inquiry into the failings at Stafford Hospital, where abuse and neglect contributed to hundreds of deaths, is to publish its findings.

The chief executive of the NHS Confederation, which represents all the organisations providing NHS care, said the health service needs to ensure such events do not happen again.

Mike Farrar said: "As someone who came into the health service to do good, today is a day I genuinely feel shame".
