Taiwanese slim down with nationwide campaign

Nearly half of adults in Taiwan and a quarter of children are obese.

The Taiwanese government is so concerned that they have put the nation on a diet.

For the past two years Taiwan's residents have been encouraged to eat more healthily and take more exercise. Companies, community groups and schools are given awards for hitting their weight-loss targets.

And it is working. Taiwanese have together lost 2.2 million kilograms since the start of the scheme.

Cindy Sui reports from Taipei.
