Mid Staffs NHS Trust awaits fine

Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust will find out today how much it will be fined for failing to care for a woman who died in hospital in 2007.

The trust pleaded guilty in October to failing to ensure the safety of diabetic patient Gillian Astbury.

She was one of hundreds of patients to endure what a public inquiry called "terrible and unnecessary suffering" at Mid Staffs.
