Blood test 'predicts Alzheimer's'

A blood test looking at the levels of certain fats could predict the onset of Alzheimer's disease, according to US researchers.

The findings, published in Nature Medicine, predicted with 90% accuracy the risk of the disease coming on in the next three years.

The research will now be tested in larger clinical trials.

Dr Iracema Leroi, a dementia specialist from the University of Manchester, explained the significance of the research.
