Manufacturing process 'being investigated' over hospital feed

Investigations are taking place into how hospital feed may have potentially become contaminated during the manufacturing process, Public Health England's Paul Cosford has said.

His comments come after a baby died from blood poisoning as a result of suspected contaminated drip food, while 14 others became ill.

The organisation's director for health protection Paul Cosford told the Today programme that they believe they may have identified the point in the manufacturing process where contamination may have entered, though he stressed that investigations are still ongoing.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Thursday 5 June.
