Frail 'need joint NHS and care fund'

Millions of vulnerable patients are to be given combined personal budgets to buy their own health and social care under a radical new plan announced by the head of NHS England.

It is hoped the policy will deliver more choice for elderly and disabled patients, but also save money.

The Nuffield Trust is warning of a possible funding crisis in the NHS before the next general election.
