Phone consultations do not cut GP surgery workloads

A major study suggests the workload of GPs' surgeries is increased by patients telephoning for advice instead of having a face-to-face appointment.

The British Medical Association says the research from the University of Exeter Medical School shows that telephone consultations can lead to more people needing a second consultation.
