A&E units across UK failing on four-hour targets

Latest figures show Accident and Emergency departments across the UK have consistently failed to meet waiting-time targets in recent months.

A&E departments are expected to see 95% of patients within four hours - but they have collectively only managed to meet that standard once since August.

Labour has blamed the cuts in social care and the difficulty in getting GP appointments but some argue the increase in cold weather leads to more viruses adding to the strain on hospitals.
