Why antibiotic overuse matters

Health officials say doctors and dentists who give out unnecessary prescriptions for antibiotics should face disciplinary action from their regulators.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, NICE, believes ten million prescriptions are being dispensed incorrectly in England every year.

Professor Mark Baker, from NICE, says patients who demand antibiotics when they don't need them are "creating a problem" for themselves and for people with life-threatening infections.
