'I lost 44 pints of blood during my Caesarean birth'

Natasha Pollock lost 44 pints during an emergency Caesarean section because of a rare condition in which her placenta grew through her uterine wall.

Doctors only discovered the condition when Mrs Pollock went into surgery, where she received one of the UK’s largest blood transfusions

Mrs Pollock said when she woke from surgery her husband said: "The baby is fine - you, however, gave us a night to remember."
