Families not told about 'do not resuscitate' orders

Thousands of patients are having 'do not resuscitate' orders placed on them, without their families being told, an audit has found.

The Royal College of Physicians said hospitals were often failing to tell relatives that potentially life-saving techniques would not be used if their loved one stopped breathing or suffered a cardiac arrest.
