Improvement of quality in over 12,000 care homes, says CQC

More than 12,000 people in England are now safer and being looked after better in care homes than they were two years ago, the Care Quality Commission says.

The watchdog says its tougher inspection regime is pushing up standards while care providers warn that will only continue if funding is improved.
