Gavi's Barroso: Global solidarity needed in Covid-19 vaccine roll-out

The UK government's pledge to donate most of any surplus vaccine supply to poorer countries has been welcomed by Jose Manuel Barroso, chairman of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

He told BBC World News he was hopeful the virtual meeting of the G7 group of major economies would aid the process further.

"We expect very important results in terms of global solidarity because in fact no-one is safe until everybody's safe," he said.
