Covid: Booster for 40-49 age group due to 'waning protection'
Professor Jonathan Van-Tam has said that "waning" protection against Covid, has led to a recommendation that everyone over the age of 40 receives a third booster dose of the vaccine.
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation also recommended that 16 and 17 years olds should receive a second dose.
England's deputy chief medical officer said that "vaccines have fundamentally changed the course of the pandemic in the UK."
