Love in the time of social media

When Nathan Graves first saw his fiancee's photo online, he was instantly smitten. But he had no idea that he would soon fall in love - especially with someone living halfway across the country.

Dwayne Kilbourne, however, was bitten by the love bug in his own backyard. He found his future girlfriend on a social media application called Foursquare, weeks before he met her at his gym.

According to a Pew Research Center poll, 46% of American adults own smart phones.

Among other things, these devices allow constant access to social media applications like Foursquare, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

Many of these hyper-connected users are finding love online - but not just on sites dedicated to finding a date.
