Unicyclist goes extreme

Though unicycles date back to circus acts in the late 19th Century, enthusiasts only began doing jumps on their one-wheeled vehicles some 40 years ago.

In recent years, "extreme unicycling" has seen increased amounts of growth around the world, with a particularly devoted group of fanatics in Canada.

These unique athletes can often times be found jumping sets of steps or grinding handrails - techniques often employed by skateboarders.

Unicyclist Hugo Duguay, who matched a world record for the long jump on a unicycle, explained to the BBC's Matt Danzico why the sport has caught his eye.
