Sars: Ten years on is Toronto prepared for another outbreak?

A decade ago a global epidemic of severe acute respiratory syndrome spread from China to the Canadian city of Toronto.

Forty-four people were killed by the disease and several hundred more were infected in the city.

As residents donned masks to try to avoid infection, the World Health Organisation issued a travel advisory on April 23, 2003, urging people to avoid travel to Toronto.

Ten years on, the BBC has spoken to a nurse who fell ill as well as a doctor and public health official about those dramatic events and how prepared the city would be in the event of a similar outbreak.
