Cycling from The Hague to Westminster
There are more bicycles than residents in The Netherlands, and in cities like Amsterdam and The Hague up to 70% of all journeys are made by bike. This is because of a vast network of cycle paths that are clearly marked, with smooth surfaces, separate signs and lights, and wide enough to allow side-by-side cycling and overtaking.
So with rising levels of obesity, high fuel prices and increasing congestion, what is stopping other countries from going Dutch, and could the UK follow suit?
Reporting for Newsnight, the BBC's Hague correspondent Anna Holligan got on her omafiets, or "granny style, bike, complete with wicker basket and pedal-back brakes, to find out, riding from the Dutch parliament to Westminster, a journey of some 200 miles.
