Maker Faire: When will we make cars and phones at home?

Tech enthusiasts, educators and engineers - in fact, anyone interested in tinkering - attended the Maker Faire in New York at the weekend.

The festival celebrates the so-called maker movement, which encourages people to make things themselves and to share the knowledge and skills they have learned.

The BBC went along to see the robots and gadgets that amateurs have created and to get a glimpse of what technology may enable us all to make ourselves at home in the future.
