How can Wikipedia woo women editors?
Editors and activists are trying to address the root of a major information gap on Wikipedia by getting more women to post. Nine out of 10 Wikipedia editors are men.
"If you're having a particular perspective being filtered into all of the articles, that will create a gap in terms of knowledge," said Heather Slania at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC.
For example, the list of pornographic actresses from the 1950s to present is three times longer than the list of notable Native American women.
Slania recently hosted a seminar to help boost the participation of female editors and increase the topic pages on female artists and scientists.
