Art Basel: Shen Wei exhibit opens to anticipation
The opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games are watched by millions of people around the world. When Beijing played host in 2008, Chinese artist Shen Wei was the lead choreographer of a display that brought him international recognition. Based in New York his dance company has performed in more than 30 countries and Shen Wei himself has won numerous awards. But less well-known is his work as a painter.
This week he opens his first major exhibition of paintings at the MDC Museum of Art and Design, part of the international Art Basel fair in Miami.
Jane O'Brien went behind the scenes to meet him.
