The 'star man' from the Amazon

The Palikur tribe, who live in the Amazon, has a population estimated at fewer than 2,000 people.

They mostly live in aldeias, or villages, a few kilometres down river from Oiapoque, the most northern city in Brazil. Many also live across the border in French Guiana.

Aged 85, Wet is a tribal elder. He is an artist, who some call an ethnocosmologist, because he makes wooden sculptures inspired by his tribe's beliefs about the stars and their constellations.

He fears his peoples' language and culture could die out within 20 years.
