MLK's Selma march through Stephen Somerstein's lens

The Oscar-nominated film Selma tells the story of the civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, led by Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1965.

One person who was present at the march was Stephen Somerstein, a photographer for a student newspaper whose iconic images still resonate 50 years later.

Somerstein's photographs are now on display at the New York Historical Society.
