The inventor who helps the birds
Nigel Butcher is sometimes referred to as the RSPB's "gadget man".
He heads a very small team that build electronic devices to help scientists from the conservation charity gather data in the field.
Working with a budget of just £5,000 a year, a lot of Nigel's work is about repurposing everyday items.
BBC News went to meet him in his workshop.
