Citizen journalists capture life in Raqqa under Islamic State

The citizen journalists behind Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently (RBSS) are the main - and often only - source of information about life in a city controlled by the so-called Islamic State. They use YouTube, Facebook and other social media to inform the rest of the world about murders, explosions and rape in a town that was once a safe haven during the early days of the Syrian civil war.

The group was awarded the Committee to Protect Journalist's International Press Freedom Award this month in New York City - and spoke to BBC Trending about their work.
