Stars give their thoughts on the Oscar campaign season

Austrian actor Christoph Waltz calls the practice "undignified" but campaigning for your film ahead of the Academy Awards has become an annual practice that involves attending dinners, parties and doing lots of promotion for your film.

Django Unchained producer Harvey Weinstein is often credited with introducing a political element to the Oscars and spending large amounts of money to make sure his films are in the minds of Academy voters.

Weinstein said that you couldn't "bully anyone into a vote" but the greatest secret to Oscar campaigning was ensuring that your film was seen by those involved in the voting process.

Newsbeat spoke to several actors, producers and directors with experience of the awards season to find out their thoughts on Oscar campaigning.

The Academy Awards take place in Los Angeles on 24 February.
