Mirren: Acting should be affordable

Dame Helen Mirren has told Newsbeat she fears only young people with wealthy parents will be able to consider acting as a career in the future.

The 68-year-old says she got into the industry through a charity funded theatre group.

A year at a private drama school could cost upwards of £9,000.

The Oscar winning actress believes the cost of pursuing a career in acting could result in talent from poorer backgrounds missing out.

Dame Mirren was speaking to Newsbeat reporter Nesta McGregor.
