You need to be registered in order to vote - here's how

There's going to be a general election on 7 May when the next government will be chosen and, if you're over 18, chances are you'll be able to vote.

You have to be registered but it's now really simple and you can do it any time.

The election might seem a way off and you may not have decided who to vote for or even if you're going to vote, but registering will at least give you the option.

Check out our guide which tells you how to get it done and how to vote if you don't have a permanent address or you're not home on the day.
