Baby gorilla revealed at London Zoo for the first time

The first gorilla to be born at London Zoo for 20 years has appeared before the cameras for the first time, following his birth on Tuesday.

The baby gorilla's father died earlier this year, and staff now face the delicate task of introducing the youngster to the dominant male in the group.

Phil Ridges, head gorilla keeper at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, said all gorilla births were important because the animals were a threatened species.
