NASA scientists may have found 1000 new planets

It is one of the most tantalising questions in space exploration, are we alone?

Scientists from the American space agency NASA say they might have found as many as 1000 new planets in distant solar systems, in addition to the 500 worlds discovered already.

The planets were spotted by a telescope in orbit, known as Kepler, as our science correspondent David Shukman reports.
