Man opts for amputation and bionic replacement
Last year, a young Austrian man opted to have his dysfunctional left hand amputated in favour of a bionic replacement.
The man, known as "Patrick", sustained traumatic injuries to both arms when he was electrocuted at work.
While his right hand was successfully reconstructed, his left hand was left with no feeling or function.
In this video, we see him before surgery, controlling the bionic limb through nerves in his left arm, then see him using the limb following surgery.
