New planet discovered by British amateur stargazers

A new planet has been discovered by amateur astronomers in Britain.

It is thought that the planet is too hot to sustain life, but it was 'stumbled upon' by a viewer of the BBC's Stargazing Live programme.

Meanwhile the village of Dulverton, Somerset, turned off all its lights in an effort to see the stars more clearly.

Stargazing Live has drawn millions of viewers to take an interest in space.
