Close-up look at Aussie Invader speed record car

An Australian team hoping to be the first to take a car to 1000 miles per hour has put the early prototype vehicle on show.

The team plans to smash the existing land speed record by more than 200mph.

The car, called the Aussie Invader 5R, is in competition with Britain's Bloodhound SSC, built by the current holders of the world record of 763mph which was set in 1997.

Both teams plan to make attempts to break the existing record in 2013.

The BBC's Duncan Kennedy visited the Aussie Invader headquarters to take a look at the car in development.
