Inside lab unravelling genetic code of deadly tree fungus

UK scientists have unravelled the genetic code of the ash dieback fungus, Chalara fraxinea.

The DNA "recipe" contains clues to how the pathogen attacks ash trees and possibly, in the long term, how to stop the epidemic, say genetic researchers.

Kim Riley met Dr Anne Edwards at the John Innes Centre in Norwich which has been involved in sequencing the genetic code.
