Wildlife stocktake highlights UK's threatened species

More than 20 of the UK's leading wildlife organisations have joined forces to carry out a stocktake of nature.

The survey suggests 60% of animal and plant species have declined in the past 50 years - and one in 10 could end up disappearing.

Jim Foster, from the Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust told BBC Breakfast that toad populations in the south and east of England are in decline.

The RSPB's Martin Harper said bird species, such as turtle doves, have declined dramatically over the past 40 years.
