Diseased badger vaccination 'pointless' - Environment secretary

Vaccinating existing, diseased badgers as an alternative to a cull is "pointless", the environment secretary says.

Owen Paterson told the BBC that vaccinated diseased badgers would continue to spread bovine TB and that "currently, there is no effective or legal cattle vaccine".

The National Farmers Union confirmed on Tuesday that a pilot cull in parts of the West Country is under way.
