Tagged jellyfish swimming secrets revealed
Scientists have succeeded in a slippery mission to tag and track jellyfish, revealing their swimming abilities.
The study, which shows that the gelatinous creatures can sense the ocean current and actively swim against it, could help researchers to work out how jellyfish form "blooms" - collections of hundreds to millions of the animals that can persist in an area for months.
The findings are published in the journal Current Biology, as Victoria Gill reports.
