Beaver family allowed to stay in the River Otter

Natural England has decided that a family of beavers should be allowed to stay living in the River Otter in Devon.

They are issuing a license to Devon Wildlife Trust on a five year trial basis subject to some conditions.

The family of beavers are the first to be living in the wild anywhere in England for 500 years, but they have divided opinion.

The dams they build mean trees are felled and land is flooded, but they can be beneficial to other river residents.
