Wet wipe litter: 'Only flush poo, pee and paper'

The number of used wet wipes littering UK beaches has increased by 50% in the last year, according to the Marine Conservation Society.

Sarah Mukherjee, environment director for Water UK, said the only three things that should be put down the toilet were "poo, pee and paper".

She said wet wipes can be used if they are "disposed of correctly" and kept away from the sewerage system where they can clog up toilets and ultimately end up on British beaches.
