Domesday Project of the 1980s given 2011 website update
A 1980s programme to record life in the UK is being updated with the launch of a website comparing the past with the present.
The Domesday Project recorded images and information about life across the UK between 1984 and 1986.
Photos were scanned and data stored on laser discs in a scheme run by Acorn Computers, Philips, Logica and the BBC.
The BBC has now launched a website displaying Domesday Project data.
Members of the public can upload photos and information to update it, 25 years after the original scheme was published.
The Domesday project website is: www.bbc.co.uk/domesday
