Volkswagen's automatic car delivery towers

The two gleaming glass towers of Volkswagen's Autostadt, or car town, house technology which automatically moves cars from VW's Wolfsburg plant to the towers, and on to the customer centre where they are collected by their owners.

The cars are built and then transported by conveyor belt to the towers. Robotic arms inside the buildings rotate from a central beam to move the vehicles into parking spaces, where they are stored before being handed over to their new owners.

Visitors can view the cars from a glass cabin that climbs through the towers.

Currently, 37% of new VW buyers from Germany pick up their new vehicle from Wolfsburg, and there is space to build two more high-tech towers should that figure increase.
